## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ENGINE LOST POWER ON TAKEOFF. AUTOROTATED INTO HARD LANDING. SKIDS WERE TORN OFF. ROLLED OVER. BROKEN VALVE SPRING.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CHI92DEM01](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CHI92DEM01), Apr 18, 1992: Rose Wesley Rotorway WR Exec (N6617L), Hudsonville, MI, substantial damage. Probable cause: THE FAILURE OF AN INTAKE VALVE SPRING. FACTORS RELATED TO THE ACCIDENT WERE THE LOW ALTITUDE AT WHICH THE AUTOROTATION WAS INITIATED AND THE SOFT TERRAIN ON WHICH THE HELICOPTER WAS LANDED.

## Other reports on N6617L (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19920820037429I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19920820037429I), Aug 20, 1992: Amtr ROTORWAYEXEC (N6617L), Spring Lake, MI, Minor damage. Experienced partial loss of power after takeoff. Found engine functions properly with rotors disconnected.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
