## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

DURING CROSSWIND LANDING, AIRCRAFT FLIPPED. (.4)THE PRIVATE PILOT WAS PRACTICING TAKEOFFS AND LANDINGS WITH AN INSTRUCTOR TO OBTAIN AN ENDORSEMENT FOR TAILWHEEL AIRPLANES. THE WIND WAS 70 DEGREES LEFT OF RUNWAY HEADING AT 16 KNOTS. DURING LANDING ROLLOUT, THE AIRPLANE TURNED INTO THE WIND. THE INSTRUCTOR CAME ON THE CONTROLS TO REGAIN DIRECTIONAL CONTROL. THE DUAL STUDENT APPLIED BRAKES, AND THE AIRPLANE NOSED OVER.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CHI93LA100](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CHI93LA100), Feb 28, 1993: Luscombe 8A (N2611K), Mason City, IA, substantial damage. Probable cause: EXCESSIVE BRAKING BY THE DUAL STUDENT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
