## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

CIRCLING TO LAND AFTER IFR APPROACH MADE CLOSE IN WING OVER TO ALIGN WITH RUNWAY. WAS TOO LOW FOR TIMELY PULL OUT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB DEN93FA031](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/DEN93FA031), Mar 3, 1993: Smith, Ted Aerostar Aerostar 600 (N90399), Panama City, FL, destroyed, 1 fatal. Probable cause: THE PILOT'S POORLY PLANNED APPROACH TO THE RUNWAY FOLLOWING AN INSTRUMENT APPROACH RESULTING IN A LOSS OF CONTROL.

## Other reports on N90399 (2)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19881003070319I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19881003070319I), Oct 3, 1988: Piper PA60600 (N90399), St Petersburg, FL. Given conflicting vectors by ATC approach. Contacted macdill approach for help and was vectored to orlando.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
