## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOTS WIFE GOT OUT TO REMOVE NOSE WHEEL CHOCK WITH ENGINE RUNNING. WAS STRUCK BY PROPELLER. FAILED TO STOP ENGINE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB BFO93LA186](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/BFO93LA186), Sep 26, 1993: Piper PA-24-260 (N8992P), Niagara Falls, NY, no damage, 1 fatal. Probable cause: THE PILOT'S FAILURE TO FOLLOW STARTING PROCEDURES AND HIS INADEQUATE PREFLIGHT INSPECTION BY NOT REMOVING THE WHEEL CHOCKS AND THE PASSENGER NOT MAINTAINING CLEARANCE FROM THE PROPELLER.

## Other reports on N8992P (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19790922050989I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19790922050989I), Sep 22, 1979: Piper PA24260 (N8992P), Washington, DC, Minor damage. Oil lost due to a loose b nut in the oil cooler line. Just out of maintenance

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
