## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: ON JANUARY 6, 1994 AT 1933 EST A BOEING 757 OPERATED BY UNITED PARCELL SERVICE COULD NOT DEPLOY THE WING FLAPS. THE PILOT USED THE ALTERNATE METHOD TO LOWER FLAPS AND LANDED AT SYRACUSE WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. MAINTENANCE VERIFIED USING A BITE CHECK THAT THE FAULT SHOWED NO MOVEMENT OF THE WING FLAPS. THE RE-SET, FOLLOWING THE FAULT ISOLATION MANUAL AND CYCLED THE SYSTEM SEVERAL TIMES. OPERATIONAL CHECKS OKAY AND AIRCRAFT WAS RELEASED FOR SERVICE. THIS INCIDENT IS CONSIDERED CLOSED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
