## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: ON JANUARY 19, 1994 AT APPROXIMATELY 0940 EST, A BOEING 727 AIRCRAFT OWNED BY FEDERAL EXPRESS CORPORATION AND OPERATING AS FEDEX 971, LANDED AT THE ROCHESTER, NY AIRPORT. AS THE AIRCRAFT TAXIED IN, THE AFT AIRSTAIR DOOR DROPPED OPEN. COMPANY MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL RENDERED THE DOOR INOP IN THE CLOSED POSITION AND DEFERRED UNDER MEL 52-3. AIRCRAFT RETURNED TO SERVICE. REPAIRS TO BE ACCOMPLISHED AT MEMPHIS. VISUAL METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS PREVAILED AND AN IFR FLIGHT PLAN HAD BEEN FILED. THE AIRCRAFT WAS NOT DAMAGED AND NO PERSON WAS INJURED. THIS INCIDENT IS CONSIDERED CLOSED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
