(-23) ON JANUARY 8, 1995 AT APPROXIMATELY 1600 CST A HOMEBUILT RV4, N29PG IMPACTED THE GROUND 1.75 MILES SOUTH AND 2 MILES EAST OF LENNOX, SD. IT APPEARS THAT THE PILOT WAS PERFORMING AEROBATIC MANEUVERS PRIOR TO IMPACT. THE AIRCRAFT IMPACTED THE GROUND AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED IN A SLIGHT NOSE LOW AND RIGHT WING LOW ATTITUDE. THE AIRCRAFT WAS DESTROYED CAUSING FATAL INJURIES TO THE PILOT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CHI95DTK01](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CHI95DTK01), Jan 8, 1995: Gay RV-4 (N29PG), Lennox, SD, destroyed, 1 fatal. Probable cause: THE PILOT'S FAILURE TO MAINTAIN ADEQUATE ALTITUDE WHILE PERFORMING AEROBATIC MANEUVERS. THE PILOT'S IMPAIRMENT OF JUDGMENT AND PERFORMANCE DUE TO DRUGS WAS A FACTOR.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
