## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: THIS PRIVATE PILOT AND HIS DAUGHTER DEPARTED ELP UNDER VMC FOR SAN ANTONIO. HE DEVELOPED INTERMITTENT ENGINE PROBLEMS 30 NM WEST OF PECOS, TEXAS. HE CALLED ABQ FSS AND DECLARED AN EMERGENCY. HE WAS AT 11,500 MSL WHEN THE PROBLEM DEVELOPED. AT 8,500 MSL NEAR PECOS, THE ENGINE QUIT. HE CIRCLED TO LAND ON RUNWAY 27. DUE TO UNANTICIPATED HEAD WIND HE LANDED 200 YARDS SHORT OF THE RUNWAY RESULTING IN A COLLAPSED NOSE GEAR. THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED MINOR DAMAGE. POST INCIDENT INSPECTION REVEALED THAT THE FUEL INJECTOR UNIT HAD FAILED TO DELIVER FUEL TO THE ENGINE DUE TO INTERNAL LEAKS BETWEEN THE FUEL AND AIR CHAMBERS. THIS INVESTIGATION IS CLOSED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
