## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: ON 1/25/95 AT ABOUT 7:10 AM CDT A MCDONNEL-DOUGLAS MD-82 OPERATED BY CONTINENTAL AIRLINES CAUSED MINOR JET BLAST DAMAGE TO A NEARBY JETLINER DURING ENGINE STARTUP. ENGINE HUNG-START PROCEDURES WERE BEING USED TO MAXIMIZE BLEED AIR AVAILABILITY, WHICH REQUIRED ADVANCEMENT OF THE AFFECTED ENGINE POWER LEVER. THE RESULTANT ENGINE EXHAUST VELOCITY BLEW A METAL LADDER AGAINST THE FUSELAGE OF A JETLINER, LEAVING ONLY A PAINT SCRATCH. NO PERSONS WERE INJURED AND NO OTHER PROPERTY DAMAGED. ENGINE STARTUP OCCURRED IN A NARROW "ALLEY" JETWAY PARKING RAMP. THE MD-82 HAD BEEN PUSHED BACK FARTHER THAN USUAL TO ACCOMMODATE AN INCOMING JETLINER. THE FLIGHT WAS CONDUCTED UNDER 14CFR 121 WITH A DESTINATION OF NEWARK, NJ. PILOT AND RAMP PERSONNEL COUNSELING HAS BEEN COMPLETED. THIS REPORT IS CLOSED.
