## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: DEPT. VFR FROM STP TO FARGO. ON APPROACH TO FARGO TO INTERCEPT ILS ENGINE QUIT (ABRUPT STOP). FUEL WAS ON AUX. TANK. PILOT SWITCHED TO MAIN FOR RESTART (BUT DID NOT ENGAGE BOOSTER PUMPS). ENGINE DID NOT RESTART. PILOT REQUESTED POSITION FIX FROM APPROACH, THEY ADVISED HIM THAT HIWAY 75 WAS AHEAD OF HIM. BECAUSE OF HEAVY TRAFFIC HOWEVER, PILOT OPTED TO LAND ON FLAT FIELD NEXT TO HIWAY (200 FT. FROM HIWAY) 3 MILES SOUTH OF TOWN.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
