NARRATIVE: ON JANUARY 2, 1995, A MU2B-60, N1727S DEPARTED SMYRNA, TN ON A RE-POSITIONING FLIGHT AFTER MAINTENANCE. THE AIRCRAFT HAD RECEIVED A 150 HOUR INSPECTION AND HAD BEEN RELEASED TO SERVICE. THE PILOT STATED THAT UPON TAKEOFF HE PULLED THE GEAR HANDLE UP TO RAISE THE LDG. GEAR. IMMEDIATELY AN UNSAFE LIGHT APPEARED, HE MADE RADIO CONTACT AND THE MECHANICS WERE NOTIFIED. THE PILOT PERFORMED EMERGENCY PROCEDURES TO NO AVAIL. THE GEAR HANDLE WOULD NOT PUMP THE GEAR DOWN, IN FACT THE GEAR HANDLE WAS MOVED ONE PUMP AND THEN STOPPED. THE PILOT TRIED PUSHING THE BREAKER BACK IN AND RECYCLED THE GEAR, TO NO AVAIL. DARKNESS WAS SETTING IN AND THE PILOT DECIDED TO LAND IN NASHVILLE, TN BEFORE DARK. HE LANDED ON CENTER LINE ON RUNWAY 31. THE AIRCRAFT SLID TO A HALT APPROXIMATELY 1500 FT DOWN THE RUNWAY. FURTHER INVESTIGATION REVEALED NO ABNORMALITIES IN THE LANDING SYSTEM, THE AIRCRAFT WAS JACKED AND THE GEAR CYCLED SEVERAL TIMES. THE LEFT MAIN GEAR DOOR WAS REPORTED SHUT UPON TOUCHDOWN, ALL OTHER GEAR DOORS WERE POPPED OPEN. AIRCRAFT FERRY BACK TO A MAINTENANCE HANGAR.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
