## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: ON 2/5/95 AT APPROX. 1900 EST, A BAE JETSTREAM 3200, REGISTERED N493UE, BEING OPERATED BY ATLANTIC COAST AIRLINES AS UNITED EXPRESS FLIGHT 424, LANDED AT BUFFALO WITH AN UNSAFE RIGHT MAIN LANDING GEAR INDICATION. DURING THE APPROACH TO BUFFALO, THE CREW LOWERED THE LANDING GEAR BUT DID NOT RECEIVE AN INDICATION THAT THE RIGHT MAIN GEAR WAS DOWN AND LOCKED. AFTER EXECUTING THE APPROPRIATE EMERGENCY PROCEDURES, THE CREW RETURNED TO LAND AT BUFFALO WITHOUT THE PROPER INDICATION THAT THE LANDING GEAR WAS LOCKED IN THE DOWN POSITION. THE AIRCRAFT LANDED SAFELY WITHOUT INCIDENT & WITHOUT DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT OR INJURY TO ANY PERSON. THE FLIGHT HAD DEPARTED WASHINGTON-DULLES AIRPORT AT 1635 EST ON AN IFR FLIGHT PLAN. MAINTENANCE DETERMINED THAT THE MALFUNCTION WAS A RESULT OF CONTAMINATION ON THE MICROSWITCH THAT OPERATED THE COCKPIT INDICATOR LIGHTS. THIS INCIDENT IS CONSIDERED CLOSED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
