## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: DURING TAKE OFF ON RUNWAY 28 AT THE NEW ORLEANS INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, FLIGHT 1472 ENTERED A LARGE FLOCK OF SEA GULLS. THE LEFT ENGINE SUSTAINED DAMAGE, CAUSING IT TO SURGE AND VIBRATE. THE ENGINE WAS SHUTDOWN TO AVOID FURTHER AIRCRAFT DAMAGE. THE CAPTAIN THEN ACCOMPLISHED THE ILS TO RUNWAY 28 AND LANDED WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. THE AIRCRAFT WAS REPAIRED AND RETURNED TO SERVICE IN ACCORDANCE WITH APPROVED DELTA MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
