## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: CLEAR SKY, GOOD VISIBILITY TURBULENCE AT 500-1000 FT. WIND SHEARAT N END OF RUNWAY T.O. AT 1100 EVALUATION FLIGHT. MR. WILLIAM WATSON, STUDENT PILOT AND OWNER OF N8790N, WAS PRACTICING TAKEOFFS AND LANDINGS ON THE ICE RUNWAY IN ALTON BAY. ON HIS SECOND LANDING, THE RIGHT MAIN GEAR STRUCK A PIECE OF ICE ON THE APPROACH END OF THE RUNWAY. AS A PRECAUTIONARY MEASURE, I DECIDED NOT TO LET THE AIRCRAFT CONTINUE WITH THE TOUCHDOWN AND ROLL-OUT. AT THIS POINT, I DECIDED TO TAKE THE AIRCRAFT BACK TO LACONIA (LCI), WHERE GROUND PERSONNEL COULD ADVISE ME OF ANY POSSIBLE DAMAGE TO THE GEAR. AFTER PERFORMING TWO LOW APPROACHES, THE AIRPORT MANAGER ADVISED ME THAT THE RIGHT MAIN GEAR DID APPEAR TO BE BENT. FROM THIS POINT ON, I DECIDED THAT, BECAUSE THE TIRE WAS STILL INTACT, THAT A LANDING ON THE PAVEMENT SHOULD BE MADE. I BROUGHT THE AIRPLANE TO THE ACTIVE RUNWAY. KEEPING THE AIRSPEED SLOW, AND THE RIGHT WING HIGH, THE AIRCRAFT TOUCHED DOWN WITHOUT INCIDENT. ALTHOUGH THE GEAR DID BEND, THE WING DID NOT TOUCH, THERE WAS ONLY SKIDDING FROM THE TIRE. NO OTHER DAMAGE WAS CAUSED AS A RESULT. THE AIRPLANE WAS REMOVED FROM THE RUNWAY WITHIN 15 MINUTES AND TOWED TO IT'S TIE DOWN.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
