## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: PILOT WAS ENROUTE TO LAKE PLACID VFR. AFTER ENCOUNTERING SNOW SHOWERS AND CLOUDS OBSCURING THE MOUNTAIN TOPS, HE DIVERTED TO TICONDEROGA AIRPORT. WHILE ENROUTE HE FLEW OVER SCHROON LAKE AIRPORT AND DECIDED TO LAND THERE DUE TO PHYSIOLOGICAL NEEDS. HE STATED THAT HE CHECKED HIS AIRPORT FACILITY DIRECTORY AND MADE A LOW PASS DOWN THE RUNWAY TO CHECK CONDITION. THERE WERE NO NOTAMS AVAILABLE ON AIRPORT CONDITION. THE LANDING ON RUNWAY 16 WAS UNEVENTFUL. PILOT TAXIED OFF RUNWAY AND HEADED FOR AN ASPHALT PARKING RAMP. ONCE THE AIRPLANE WAS ON THE RAMP, THE NOSE GEAR BROKE THROUGH ASPHALT AND SANK DOWN ABOUT ONE FOOT. THE NOSE GEAR COLLAPSED, THE PROPELLER STRUCK THE GROUND, AND THE GEAR DOORS WERE BENT. THE RIGHT MAIN GEAR SANK INTO THE ASPHALT ABOUT 1/2 FOOT WITH NO DAMAGE. AIRCRAFT WAS SHUT DOWN. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THIS INCIDENT IS CLOSED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
