## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: ON MONDAY, MARCH 20, 1995, AT APPROXIMATELY 10:40Z (04:40 CST), LONG HORN 514, AN EXPRESS ONE B727-221, ARRIVING FROM CANCUN, MEXICO, TAXIED INTO THE TERMINAL 2W GATE 24 AREA. CAPTAIN KEITH GUTHRIE HAD ACQUIRED VISUAL CONTACT WITH A GROUND LEAD-IN SIGNALMAN AND WAS MANEUVERING INTO THE PARKING POSITION FOR GATE 24 WHEN THE OUTER LEFT WING AREA MADE CONTACT WITH THE STRUCTURE OF AN UPPER LEVEL LOADER PARKED ADJACENT TO THE TAXI-IN AREA. THE WING TIP LIGHT COVER CONTACTED A RAILING ON THE LOADER AND THE WING LEADING EDGE AREA STRUCK AN UPRIGHT STANCHION OF THE LOADER APPROXIMATELY TWENTY INCHES FROM THE WING TIP ITSELF. AFTER A VISUAL CHECK FROM THE COCKPIT WINDOW AND A VERBAL EXCHANGE WITH GROUND PERSONNEL, THE CAPTAIN DETERMINED THAT THERE WAS NO IMMINENT DANGER AND DECIDED ON AN ORDERLY DEPLANING OF THE PASSENGERS VIA THE REAR STAIRS UNDER THE SUPERVISION OF, AND WITH THE CONCURRENCE OF THE CUSTOMS AND IMMIGRATION AUTHORITIES. THE AIRCRAFT AND THE UPPER-DECK LOADER WERE BOTH SUBSEQUENTLY MOVED BEFORE ANY INVESTIGATION OR OBSERVATION BY THIS OFFICE COULD BE ACCOMPLISHED. SUBSEQUENT INSPECTION OF THE LEADING EDGE OF THE BOEING AIRCRAFT REVEALED ONLY MINOR DAMAGE. AN INSPECTION OF THE RAMP AREA AT NIGHT REVEALED THAT BECAUSE OF THE PLACEMENT OF THE EXISTING RAMP LIGHTS, IT WAS NOT POSSIBLE FOR THE CREW TO HAVE SEEN THE LOADER.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
