## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: CHAMPION 7ECA N1967T PILOTED BY JAN THORNE LANDED ON RUNWAY 10L AT BILLINGS MONTANA LOGAN AIRPORT. DURING THE ROLLOUT THE AIRCRAFT BEGAN AN UNCONTROLLABLE TURN TO THE RIGHT. THE PILOT STATED THAT BOTH LEFT BRAKE AND LEFT RUDDER WITH POWER BURSTS FAILED TO STOP THE RIGHT HAND TURN OFF THE RUNWAY. INVESTIGATION REVEALED THE CAUSE OF THE TURN TO BE A COMBINATION OF A BROKEN TAIL WHEEL SPRING AND AN AXLE SEPARATION OF THE RIGHT MAIN GEAR. THE AXLE SHOWED SIGNS OF A PRE-EXISTING CRACK ABOUT 1/2 WAY AROUND THE DIAMETER. NO ACTION IS ANTICIPATED REGARDING THE PILOT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
