## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-16) ACCORDING TO A STATEMENT BY THE PILOT, HE APPLIED RIGHT BRAKE TO COUNTERACT A LEFT CROSS WIND. BRAKE HAD NO EFFECT. A STATEMENT WAS ALSO GIVEN TO THIS INSPECTOR. THE WRITTEN STATEMENT BY AN A & P MECHANIC VERIFIED THE FACT THAT THERE WAS A LACK OF BRAKING ACTION TO THE RIGHT SIDE DESPITE FULL DEFLECTION OF THE RIGHT BRAKE PEDAL.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB NYC95LA096](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/NYC95LA096), Apr 23, 1995: Stinson 108-2 (N978D), Clarion, PA, substantial damage. Probable cause: A PARTIAL FAILURE OF THE BRAKE SYSTEM.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
