## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: ON MAY 23, 1995, AT 1530 PDT A CESSNA 182 TURBO RG OWNED BY TIMOTHY HORWATH, EXPERIENCED NOSE-GEAR COLLAPSE/RETRACTION AFTER LANDING DURING A BUSINESS FLIGHT. VISUAL METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS PREVAILED AND NO FLIGHT PLAN WAS FILED. THE AIRCRAFT RECEIVED MINOR DAMAGE AND THERE WERE NO PERSONNEL INJURIES. THE PILOT HELD A PRIVATE PILOT CERTIFICATE. THE FLIGHT ORIGINATED AT SALINAS, CA., ON MAY 23, 1995 AT 1000. THE PILOT STATED THAT HE LANDED ON RUNWAY 26. AS HE APPLIED THE BRAKES, JUST BEFORE TURNING OFF THE RUNWAY, THE GEAR-WARNING HORN SOUNDED BRIEFLY BEFORE THE NOSE GEAR RETRACTED OR COLLAPSED. THE PILOT BELIEVES THAT HIS LEG MAY HAVE BUMPED THE GEAR HANDLE AS HE RAISED HIS FEET TO APPLY TOE BRAKES. HE NOW FLYS WITH HIS SEAT FURTHER BACK FROM THE INSTRUMENT PANEL TO AVOID ANY CONTACT BETWEEN HIS LEG AND THE GEAR HANDLE. THIS TERMINATES THE INVESTIGATION AND THE REPORT IS CLOSED. NO PILOT DEVIATION AND NO 8020-11 GENERATED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
