## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: PILOT REPORTED IN LEVEL FLIGHT HE NOTICED A 200 RPM DROP AND A GRADUAL LOSS IN ALTITUDE. HE DECIDED TO LAND AT THE NEAREST AIRPORT, CRYSTAL RIVER. HE PUSHED THE THROTTLE IN AND NOTHING HAPPENED. HE CONTINUED THE DESCENT, ON APPROACH TO THE AIRPORT HE PULLED THE THROTTLE OUT WITH NO CHANGE TO ENGINE RPM. ON ROLL OUT THE ENGINE WAS STILL MAKING POWER. THE AIRCRAFT WENT OFF THE END OF THE RUNWAY AND CONTACTED A DITCH AND BARBED WIRE FENCE BEFORE HE COULD STOP THE AIRCRAFT OR ENGINE. A MECHANIC AT CRYSTAL RIVER SAID THE NOSE GEAR WAS BROKEN AT THE STRUT. THE PROPELLER WAS BENT AND BOTH WINGS HAD DENTS IN THE LEADING EDGES. EXAMINATION ON THE ENGINE REVEALED THE THROTTLE CABLE WAS SEPARATED AT THE SWAGED FITTING ON THE HANDLE DUE TO CORROSION AND AGE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
