## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON JULY 15, 1995, AT 1343 CENTRAL DAYLIGHT TIME, A BEECH C35, N1997D, WAS SUBSTANTIALLY DAMAGED DURING A FORCED LANDING NEAR PLANO, TEXAS. THE COMMERCIAL PILOT RECEIVED MINOR INJURIES AND THE PASSENGER WAS SERIOUSLY INJURED. VISUAL METEROLOGICAL CONDITIONS PREVAILED FOR THE PERSONAL FLIGHT. ACCORDING TO THE PILOT, HE WAS ON FINAL APPROACH TO LAND AT AIRPARK-DALLAS WHEN THE ENGINE LOST POWER. THE PILOT ATTEMPTED TO LAND IN A FIELD, HOWEVER, PRIOR TO TOUCHDOWN, THE AIRPLANE STRUCK A TREE AND THEN IMPACTED THE GROUND. EXAMINATION OF THE AIRPLANE BY A FEDERAL AVIATION ADMINISTRATION INSPECTOR REVEALED THAT THE FUEL SELECTOR WAS IN THE LEFT TANK POSITION, AND THERE WAS NO USEABLE FUEL IN THE LEFT WING TANK.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB FTW95FA300](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/FTW95FA300), Jul 15, 1995: Beech C35 (N1997D), Plano, TX, substantial damage. Probable cause: FUEL STARVATION DUE TO THE IMPROPER POSITION OF THE FUEL SELECTOR, AND FAILURE THE PILOT TO FOLLOW EMERGENCY PROCEDURES.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
