## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT WAS SPRAYING POTATO FIELD. PILOT WAS FLYING UNDER ONE SET OF DIAGONAL WIRES CROSSING THE FIELD AND FLYING OVER ANOTHER SET ON THE END OF THE FIELD. WHERE THE WIRES CONVERGE THE PILOT DID NOT ALLOW ENOUGH ROOM AND CONTACTED THE POWER POLE 3 FEET DOWN FROM THE TOP SHEARING OFF THE LOWER RH WING, AND N STRUT. THE TOP WING SEPARATED, SOON THEREAFTER CAUSING THE A/C TO BECOME INVERTED AND SPIN.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CHI95LA260](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CHI95LA260), Aug 5, 1995: Schweizer G-164A-450 (N7994), Grand Forks, ND, substantial damage. Probable cause: the pilot's failure to maintain clearance with transmission wires. A factor in the accident was the sunglare.

## Other reports on N7994 (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19910522028359I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19910522028359I), May 22, 1991: Scwzer G164A (N7994), Hillsboro, ND, Minor damage. Pilot experienced heavy rain on final approach. Landed short of runway and hit a ditch.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
