## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

CROP SURVEY LOW ALTITUDE. MADE STEEP TURN AND STALLED. TOO LOW TO RECOVER. (-23) ON SEPTEMBER 4, 1995, PRIVATE PILOT GEORGE L. CHRISTENSEN, ACTING AS PILOT-IN-COMMAND OF PIPER PA-11, N70613, OPERATED THIS AIRCRAFT ON A PRIVATE PASSENGER CARRYING FLIGHT. MR. CHRISTENSEN WAS MANEUVERING THE AIRCRAFT IN A STEEP TURN WHEN THE AIRCRAFT STALLED IMPACTING THE TERRAIN NEAR BADGER, SOUTH DAKOTA, DESTROYING THE AIRCRAFT AND SERIOUSLY INJURING HIMSELF AND HIS PASSENGER.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CHI95LA306](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CHI95LA306), Sep 5, 1995: Piper PA-11 (N70613), Badger, SD, destroyed. Probable cause: the pilot's failure to maintain adequate airspeed while making a steep right turn. A contributing factor was the insufficient altitude needed to make a recovery.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
