## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CHI95LA318](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CHI95LA318), Sep 10, 1995: Aviat Pitts S2R (N79DG), Belvidere, IL, substantial damage. Probable cause: inadequate visual lookout by the pilots of both airplanes, which resulted in failure of each pilot to see-and-avoid the other airplane.

## Other reports on N79DG (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Accident 19790117000989A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19790117000989A), Jan 17, 1979: Child S2APITTS (N79DG), Montpelier, ID, Substantial damage. Pilot attempted a precautionary landing due to weather and darkness. Hit a wire on approach.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
