## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: KOREAN AIRLINES B-747 WING TIP STRUCK CHINA AIR B-747 WING TIP WHILE BEING MARSHALLED OUT OF PARKING AREA. CHINA AIR B-747 WAS PARKED AND SCHEDULED TO LEAVE BEFORE KAL. KAL REQUESTED TO LEAVE EARLY, WHICH REQUIRES PRECISE TAXI MANUEVERS IF A/C IS UNDER IT'S OWN POWER. KAL REFUSED OFFER FOR PUSH BACK BY GROUND CREW. IN ORDER FOR LEFT WING TIP OF KAL TO MISS RIGHT WING TIP OF CHINA AIR, AN IMMEDIATE HARD RIGHT TURN IS REQUIRED AT START OF TAXI. MARSHALLING TEAM OF 3, STATED MAIN MARSHALLER GAVE SIGNAL FOR IMMEDIATE RIGHT TURN. ALL 3 STATED A/C DID NOT MAKE HARD RIGHT, INSTEAD, A SLIGHT RIGHT TURN. CAPTAIN ALSO STATED HE MADE AN EASY RIGHT TURN. WING MARSHALLER GAVE STOP SIGNAL, A/C DID NOT STOP. HE LOOKED AND MAIN MARSHALLER, ALSO, HAD THE STOP SIGNAL. A/C STOPPED ONLY AFTER CONTACT WAS WITH OTHER A/C WING TIP. ANCHORAGE AIRPORT HAS CHANGED THE POLICY CONCERNING THE CENTER PARKING AREAS. A/C WILL HAVE TO BE PUSHED OR TOWED FROM THESE AREAS IF THEY HAVE AN AIRCRAFT IN THE ADJACENT PARKING AREA IN FRONT OF THEIR WING TIP.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
