(-16) THE PILOT STATED THAT ON LANDING, RUNWAY 27, ROLLA DOWNTOWN AIRPORT, THE AIRCRAFT VEERED RIGHT THEN ABRUPTLY VEERED LEFT. FULL RIGHT RUDDER DID NOT CORRECT THE LEFT VEERING TENDENCY. THE AIRCRAFT CONTINUED INTO THE GRASS AND SOFTER GROUND AND GROUNDLOOPED. A LANDING GEAR STABLIZATION WIRE HAD BROKEN ALLOWING THE TWO MAIN GEAR TO OPERATE INDEPENDENTLY MAKING THE AIRCRAFT UNCONTROLLABLE. SUSPECT MECHANICAL FAILURE AS CAUE OF THIS ACCIDENT. SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT, NO INJURIES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CHI96LA001](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CHI96LA001), Oct 1, 1995: Luscombe Phantom 1 (N272Y), Rolla, MO, substantial damage. Probable cause: mechanical failure of the left brake.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
