## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: ON OCTOBER 3, 1995, AT 1738, A BELL 206B-III HELICOPTER, N3181Y, OWNED BY PETROLEUM HELICOPTER, INC., EXPERIENCED COMPRESSOR STALLS FOLLOWED BY AN ENGINE CHIP LIGHT DURING A PASSENGER/CARGO FLIGHT. THE CAUSE WAS LATER DETERMINED TO BE A NO. 1 ENGINE BEARING FAILURE. VISUAL FLIGHT RULES (VFR) CONDITIONS PREVAILED, AND A VFR FLIGHT PLAN WAS FILED. THE AIRCRAFT LANDED ON THE BEACH WITH NO DAMAGE OR INJURY TO PERSONNEL. THE PILOT HOLDS A COMMERCIAL PILOT CERTIFICATE. THE FLIGHT ORIGINATED FROM AN OFFSHORE PLATFORM (HI60) ON OCTOBER 3, 1995, AT 1735.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
