## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: AIRCRAFT LANDED IN FIELD NORTH OF THE AIRPORT FOLLOWING AN ENGINE FAILURE. PRELIMINARY INVESTIGATION FOUND NUMBER 4 CONNECTING ROD PROTRUDED THE ENGINE CASE, ENGINE MOUNT BROKEN, AND RIGHT MAGNETO CAME OFF THE MOUNTING FLANGE. IT APPEARS THAT THE REAR MAIN BEARING SPUN OUT OF POSITION AND BLOCKED THE OIL FLOW TO THE NUMBER 4 CONNECTING ROD BEARING WHICH CAUSED IT TO OVERHEAT AND FAIL. MALFUNCTION OR DEFECT REPORT HAS BEEN REQUESTED FROM OPERATOR AFTER THE ENGINE IS DISASSEMBLED TO ASCERTAIN FAILURE. THIS INCIDENT IS CLOSED.
