## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: THE AIRWORTHINESS CERTIFICATE WAS ISSUED 10-6-95 BY J.L. MURPHY (DAR-38-FS-SO) AND THE AIRCRAFT APPEARED TO BE IN GOOD CONDITION. WHEN INSPECTOR CASADO AND I ARRIVED THE AIRCRAFT WAS POSITIONED SO THAT WE COULD OBSERVE THE RETRACTION OF THE LANDING GEAR. THE CABLES FROM THE RUDDER CONTROL HORN TO THE WATER RUDDER HAD BEEN REMOVED BUT IT WAS DEMONSTRATED HOW THE WATER RUDDER CABLES BECAME TANGLED IN THE TAIL WHEEL CONTROL HORNS. WHEN THE TAIL WHEEL WAS EXTENDED THE TAIL WHEEL WAS DEFLECTED 90 DEGREES FROM THE TRAIL POSITION. UPON TOUCH DOWN THE AIRCRAFT MADE AN ABRUPT TURN CAUSING A GROUND LOOP. ONLY ONE MAIN WHEEL WAS DAMAGED AND NO PART OF THE AIRCRAFT CONTACTED THE GROUND.

Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
