## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: N7880Y HAD DEPARTED CORONA AIRPORT IN CORONA, CA EARLIER IN THE DAY ON A FLIGHT TO HESPERIA, CA, FRESNO, CA AND RETURN TO CORONA, CA THE SAME DAY. A/C WAS TOPPED WITH FUEL PRIOR TO DEPARTING CORONA, BUT NO FUEL WAS ADDED DURING THE FLIGHT. ON THE LEG FROM FRESNO TO CORONA WHILE AT 9500 FEET OVER LANCASTER, CA THE AIRCRAFT LOST POWER ON THE RIGHT ENGINE. THE PILOT DECIDED TO LAND AT FOX FIELD BUT DURING THE DESCENT THE OTHER ENGINE QUIT AND HE LANDED ONE MILE SHORT OF THE RUNWAY. THE FUEL SYSTEM ON THE RIGHT SIDE WAS DIRTY. AT THE SCENE INVESTIGATORS FOUND APPROXIMATELY 2 INCHES OF FUEL IN THE RIGHT INBOARD TANK. ALL THREE OTHER TANKS WERE FOUND DRY. THERE WERE NO SIGNS OF FUEL LEAKAGE AT THE SCENE. THE PILOT STATED THAT WITH FULL FUEL DEPARTING CORONA AIRPORT THAT MORNING HE CALCULATED HE HAD 5 HOURS OF FUEL ON BOARD. AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT HE HAD ACCUMULATED 31/2 HOURS OF FLIGHT TIME AND HE CLAIMED THAT BOTH FUEL GAUGES WERE READING 1/4 TO 1/3 IN THEIR RESPECTIVE INBOARD TANKS WHICH ARE THE MAIN TANKS. BOTH FUEL SELECTORS WERE SET ON THEIR RESPECTIVE MAIN TANK. THE PILOT WAS COUNSELED AND THE INVESTIGATION CLOSED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
