## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: ON TUESDAY, OCTOBER 17, 1995, AT APPROXIMATELY 1120 MST, CESSNA 172RG, N6303V, INTENTIONALLY LANDED WITH THE LANDING GEAR IN THE "UP" POSITION AT SCOTTSDALE, ARIZONA. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE PILOT HAD MADE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO LOWER THE LANDING GEAR PRIOR TO THIS LANDING, BUT DUE TO AN APPARENT MECHANICAL PROBLEM IT WOULD NOT COME DOWN. AFTER HAVING HAD MUCH DISCUSSION WITH COMPANY MECHANICS, THE FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR LANDED THE AIRPLANE GEAR-UP. INSPECTION OF THE AIRCRAFT REVEALED THAT A PIVOT ASSEMBLY HAD BROKEN, WHICH PREVENTED THE LEFT MAIN LANDING GEAR FROM EXTENDING. THIS REPORT DOES NOT INVOLVE AN NMAC REPORT FAA FORM 8020-11 NOT RECEIVED FROM AIR TRAFFIC. THIS DOES NOT INVOLVE A PILOT DEVIATION REPORT BY AIR TRAFFIC. THIS REPORT CLOSED. SDR TAKEN.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
