## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: CHICAGO EXPRESS FLIGHT 160 DEPARTED FROM CHICAGO MIDWAY AIRPORT WITH 9 PASSENGERS AND A CREW OF TWO. AS THEY MADE THEIR APPROACH INTO DES MOINES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, THEY EXPERIENCED A COMPLETE LOSS OF HYDRAULIC PRESSURE. THE CREW REPORTED THIS TO DSM ATC, WHO DECLARED AN EMERGENCY. THE CREW MANUALLY EXTENDED THE LANDING GEAR AND LANDED ON RUNWAY 31R, THEN TAXIED TO THE GATE WITH OUT FURTHER INCIDENT OR ASSISTANCE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES TO THE CREW, PASSENGERS, OR ANYONE ON THE GROUND AS A RESULT OF THIS INCIDENT. A CX7A MECHANIC ARRIVED ON 10-18-95 AND REPAIRED THE AIRCRAFT. A LEAK IN THE HYDRAULIC LINE CAUSED THE LOSS OF PRESSURE. THE CAUSE OF THE LEAK WAS DETERMINED TO BE A BURR ON THE FLANGE OF THE HYDRAULIC LINE. THE HYDRAULIC LINE AND THE LEFT HYDRAULIC PUMP WAS REPLACED. THE AIRCRAFT WAS FERRIED FROM DES MOINES TO GRAND RAPIDS, MICHIGAN ON 10-19-95 FOR CONTINUED MAINTENANCE SERVICE TO THE AIRCRAFT. A COMPANY ISSUED FERRY PERMIT WAS ISSUED AND USED TO FERRY THE AIRCRAFT. THIS INCIDENT IS CONSIDERED CLOSED WITH THIS REPORT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
