## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: ON OCTOBER 18, 1995, AT APPROXIMATELY 5:00 PM EDT, WHILE ON A SOLO FLIGHT, A STUDENT PILOT, MR. LEWIS LEVIE, GROUND LOOPED A CESSNA 140, N2304N, DURING LANDING AT THE GASTONIA MUNICIPAL AIRPORT, GASTONIA, NC. THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED MINOR DAMAGE AND MR. LEVIE WAS NOT INJURED. INVESTIGATION INDICATES THAT MR. LEVIE ATTEMPTED TO MAKE A LANDING FROM AN UNSTABILIZED APPROACH AND LOST CONTROL OF THE TRAIL WHEELED AIRCRAFT JUST AFTER TOUCHDOWN ON RUNWAY 3. THE WINDS WERE CALM AND THE WEATHER WAS NOT A FACTOR. A REVIEW OF MR. LEVIE'S PILOT LOGBOOK INDICATED THAT HE DID NOT HAVE A CURRENT ENDORSEMENT WITHIN THE PREVIOUS 90 DAYS FOR SOLO FLIGHT. THERE WERE OTHER DISCREPANCIES AS WELL. MR. LEVIE'S FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR HAS BEEN QUESTIONED CONCERNING THESE DISCREPANCIES AND COUNSELED ON LOGBOOK ENDORSEMENTS. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
