## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: THE PILOT REPORTED AFTER TAKEOFF FROM KEARNEY MUNICIPAL AIRPORT, KEARNEY, NE THE ENGINE WAS NOT RUNNING RIGHT. A PRECAUTIONARY TURN BACK WAS MADE. ON APPROACH TO KEARNEY, NE WHEN THE THROTTLE WAS CLOSED, THE ENGINE HAD AN INVOLUNTARY SHUTDOWN. DURING AN INSPECTION OF THE ENGINE BY A CERTIFICATED MECHANIC, IT WAS FOUND THAT THREE (3) OF THE FOUR (4) ENGINE FUEL INTAKE PIPE GASKETS HAD DETERIORATED ALLOWING THE PIPES TO BE LOOSE. THIS CAUSED THE FUEL MIXTURE TO BE LEAN AND WHEN THE THROTTLE WAS CLOSED THE ENGINE STOPPED DUE TO IMPROPER FUEL AIR MIXTURE. AN M OR D REPORT HAS BEEN SUBMITTED BY THE MAINTENANCE SHOP. THIS INCIDENT IS CLOSED WITH THIS REPORT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
