## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: STUDENT PILOT DEPARTED CHS ON CROSS-COUNTRY TRAINING FLIGHT. PLANNED FLIGHT INCLUDED CHS-CAE-FAY-CHS. PILOT LANDED CAE AND REFUELED BEFORE DEPARTING FOR FAY. UPON ARRIVAL AT FAY, PILOT WAS CLEARED TO LAND RUNWAY 04. SURFACE WINDS WERE NORTHERLY AT LESS THAN 5 KNOTS. AIRCRAFT HIT RUNWAY AND BOUNCED AT LEAST TWICE, COLLAPSING THE NOSE GEAR AND STRIKING THE PROPELLER ON THE RUNWAY. ON THE THIRD CONTACT WITH THE RUNWAY, THE UNDERSIDE OF THE NOSE COWLING MADE FULL CONTACT WITH THE RUNWAY AND REMAINED SO UNTIL THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST. THE NOSE WHEEL ASSEMBLY WAS COMPLETELY BROKEN OFF AND STRUCK THE LEFT MAIN GEAR SPAR. THE NOSE WHEEL STRUT ASSEMBLY WAS BENT REARWARD AND FORCED UP BELOW THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
