## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: STUDENT AND INSTRUCTOR ON A MULTIENGINE TRAINING FLIGHT ATTEMPTED TO LAND WITHOUT EXTENDING THE LANDING GEAR. WHEN THE PROPS CONTACTED THE RUNWAY THE INSTRUCTOR EXECUTED A GO-AROUND. THE INSTRUCTOR LOWERED THE LANDING GEAR NORMALLY AND RETURNED TO LAND WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. NEITHER THE INSTRUCTOR NOR THE STUDENT MADE ANY VERBAL CALLOUT TO VERIFY GEAR EXTENSION BEFORE THE ATTEMPTED LANDING. BY SELECTING LANDING GEAR TO NEUTRAL, (INSTEAD OF DOWN), AND ADVANCING THE THROTTLE OUT OF THE MICRO-SWITCHES, IT IS POSSIBLE TO MISINTERPRET HAND MOTION AND A SILENT HORN FOR GEAR-DOWN. THE INSTRUCTOR CONCEDED THE GEAR MUST NOT HAVE BEEN EXTENDED PRIOR TO THE ATTEMPTED LANDING. THE INSTRUCTOR WAS RE-EXAMINED ON 1-12-96. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ INCIDENT CLOSED WITH THIS REPORT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
