## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: ON 16 DECEMBER 1995, AT APPROXIMATELY 13:30 LOCAL TIME AT LAX, AN A-300 OWNED AND OPERATED BY CARNIVAL AIR LINES, INC. WAS BEING PUSHED BACK FROM GATE #119 WHEN THE TAIL SECTION STRUCK THE JETWAY #120. THE FLIGHT WAS A REGULAR SCHEDULED REVENUE PASSENGER FLIGHT OPERATED UNDER FAA FAR 121. THE AIRCRAFT'S RIGHT HAND ELEVATOR WAS DAMAGED ENOUGH TO CANCEL THE FLIGHT. THERE WERE NO REPORTED INJURIES TO THE 10 FLIGHT CREW MEMERS OR TO IT'S 199 PASSENGERS. THE PILOT DID FILE A STANDARD IFR FLIGHT PLAN. THE FLIGHT CREW WERE ALL PROPERLY CERTIFICATED UNDER FAR 121 AND DID NOT CONTRIBUTE IN ANYWAY LEADING TOWARD THIS INCIDENT. THE MERCURY AIR GROUP, INC TUG OPERATOR THAT WAS CONTRACTED BY CARNIVAL FAILED TO FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS GIVEN TO HIM TO STOP. WE CONSIDER THIS MATTER CLOSED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
