## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

IT WAS A PLEASURE FLIGHT WITH ONE PASSENGER ON BOARD. DUE TO PSYCHOLOGICAL NEED, MR. PRINDLE (PILOT) PERFORMED A LOW AND SLOW FLY BY OVER THE LANDING STRIP AND IT APPEARS FINE. HE THEN LANDED "SOFTLY" AND HE FELT FINE AT FIRST UNTIL THE WEIGHT OF THE AIRCRAFT SUNK INTO THE MUD DURING ABORTED TAKE-OFF. AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED DAMAGED IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS: A) LH ELEVATOR-LEADING EDGE OUTBOARD SECTION BENT ALMOST 90", B) RH WING - LOWER SURFACE, SKIN BULDGE, BENT, WRINKLE EXCEEDING 12", C) NOSE GEAR SHEAR AT AXLE, D) NOSE GEAR AREA AND TAIL SECTION - FUSELAGE SKIN DAMAGE, DENT, WRINKLE. REVIEWED LOG BOOK RECORD, PILOT CERTIFICATE AND AIRCRAFT DOCUMENTS FOUND NO DISCREPANCIES. MR. PRINDLE (PILOT) WAS COUNSELED ON 01-02-96 BY FAA-POI MR. ROUNTREE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB SEA96LA032](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/SEA96LA032), Dec 17, 1995: Cessna 172K (N143JP), Owyhee, OR, substantial damage. Probable cause: the pilot's selection of unsuitable terrain for landing. The soft terrain and high vegetation were related factors.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
