## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: ON DECEMBER 20, 1995, MS. MARTHA BRYSON, STUDENT PILOT CERTIFICATE #EE0937584, WAS ON HER FIRST SUPERVISED SOLO IN N4684R, A PIPER CHEROKEE, WHEN SHE STRUCK THE WING TIP WHILE LANDING. HER FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR, MR. EDWARD SAMMONS, WAS IN THE TOWER OBSERVING AT THE TIME. MR. SAMMONS SAID IT APPEARED THAT SHE CAUGHT A WIND THAT CAUSED HER WING TO DIP JUST BEFORE SHE LANDED AND SHE WAS NOT ABLE TO CORRECT FOR THE WIND BEFORE THE WING TIP STRUCK THE RUNWAY. DAMAGE TO THE AIRPLANE WAS MINIMAL. THIS DOES NOT INVOLVE A NMAC. THIS INCIDENT DOES NOT INVOLVE A PILOT DEVIATION. THE STUDENT PILOT AND THE CFI WERE COUNSELED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
