## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: THE PILOT WAS DEPARTING RUNWAY 17 AT THE COLUMBIA, CA AIRPORT. ON TAKE-OFF ROLL A DEER RAN OUT ON THE RUNWAY. THE PILOT SAW THE DEER JUST AS HE ROTATED FOR TAKE-OFF, AND FELT HE WOULD MISS THE DEER. THE DEER JUMPED AND WAS STRUCK WITH THE LEADING EDGE OF THE AIRCRAFT WING. THE PILOT WAS ABLE TO LAND THE AIRCRAFT SAFELY IN THE RUNWAY REMAINING.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
