## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ICING DURING DESCENT FOR LOC APPROACH. MISSED. GETTING MORE ICE. STALLED ON FLARE. HARD LANDING. (-23) THE PILOT REPORTED THAT DURING APPROACH INTO LAKELAND AIRPORT (ARV), HE ENCOUNTERED CLEAR TO MIXED ICING THAT ADHERED TO THE AIRCRAFT. HE STATED, THAT AS A RESULT OF THE EXPOSURE TO THE ICING CONDITION, THE AIRCRAFT PERFORMANCE DETERIORATED. THE DECREASE IN AIRCRAFT PERFORMANCE LED TO A HARD LANDING ON THE RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT INCURRED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE. THERE WERE 3 PASSENGERS ON BOARD. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE PILOT SAID THAT THE WEATHER FORECAST HE RECEIVED DURING HIS WEATHERE BRIEFING WAS NOWHERE NEAR THE ACTUAL WEATHER CONDITIONS HE ENCOUNTERED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CHI96LA070](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CHI96LA070), Dec 29, 1995: Cessna 310R (N68300), Minocqua, WI, substantial damage. Probable cause: the pilot's failure to maintain adequate airspeed during the landing. The weather and ice accumulation on the airplane were factors.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
