## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: ON JAN. 2, 1996 AT 0752 EST, A BEECHCRAFT 18, N2019C OPERATED BY DRAGON AIR INC., DEPARTED FROM ELMIRA AIRPORT ON AN IFR FLIGHT PLAN. AFTER CLIMBING TO 6,000 FEET, THE PILOT EXPERIENCED A LOSS OF ENGINE OIL PRESSURE ON THE LEFT ENGINE. THE PILOT RADIOED THE ELM TOWER FOR A VECTOR BACK TO ELM, THEN SHUT DOWN THE LEFT ENGINE AND LANDED AT ELM ON RUNWAY 06 WITH NO FURTHER INCIDENT. THE AIRCRAFT WAS TOWED FROM THE END OF THE RUNWAY TO THE RAMP AND CONTRACT MAINTENANCE FOUND NO COMPRESSION ON THE NUMBER 3 CYLINDER ASSEMBLY AND PISTON. SERVICED ENGINE OIL TO 8 GALLONS (NOTE: OIL WAS DOWN TO 2 GAL) AND RELEASED THE AIRCRAFT FOR SERVICE. THIS INCIDENT IS CONSIDERED CLOSED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
