## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: ON A CARGO FLIGHT FROM DEN TO MTJ, AT 17,000 FEET THE PILOT NOTICED THE LEFT OIL PRESSURE 10#LOW, BUT STILL IN THE GREEN. OIL PRESSURE CONTINUED DOWN. PILOT TURNED AIRCRAFT AROUND AND ASKED FOR CLEARANCE BACK TO DENVER. ON THE WAY BACK THE OIL PRESSURE CONTINUED TO DROP TO ALMOST REDLINE, MANIFOLD PRESSURE BEGAN TO DROP AND A SLIGHT VIBRATION OCCURRED, SO THE PILOT FEATHERED NUMBER ONE ENGINE. PILOT THEN DECLARED AN EMERGENCY. HE THEN NOTICED NUMBER TWO ENGINE OIL PRESSURE WAS SLIGHTLY LOW. ATC CLEARED THE PILOT TO LAND AT JEFFCO. AIRCRAFT LANDED WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. AN ON SCENE INSPECTION SHOWED THAT THE NUMBER ONE ENGINE THREW A ROD AND PUNCHED A HOLE IN THE CRANKCASE. IT WAS DETERMINED THAT BOTH OIL BREATHERS WERE CLOGGED WITH ICE CONTRIBUTING TO NUMBER ONE ENGINE THROWING A ROD. OPERATOR SUBMITTED A MALFUNCTION DEFECT REPORT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
