## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

UPON LANDING ON RUNWAY, SLID OFF LEFT SIDE OF RUNWAY, WENT INTO A DITCH, BENT NOSE WHEEL AND PROP. (.4)THE PILOT REPORTED THAT UPON LANDING THE AIRPLANE 'VEERED LEFT OFF THE RUNWAY. IT FELT LIKE THE LEFT BRAKE WAS LOCKED UP.' THE AIRPLANE WENT THROUGH A DITCH OFF THE EDGE OF THE RUNWAY AND THROUGH THE FIELD TO THE CROSSWIND RUNWAY. WHEN THE AIRPLANE'S NOSEWHEEL CONTACTED THE EDGE OF THE CROSSWIND RUNWAY IT COLLAPSED, AND THE AIRPLANE CAME TO A STOP ON THE CROSSWIND RUNWAY. EXAMINATION OF THE AIRPLANE REVEALED NO MECHANICAL ANOMALIES IN THE FLIGHT CONTROLS, ENGINE, ENGINE CONTROLS OR BRAKES. AN AIRPLANE AND POWERPLANT MECHANIC ON THE AIRPORT REPORTED THAT THE AIRPLANE'S BRAKES FUNCTIONED NORMALLY WHILE TOWING THE AIRPLANE FROM THE ACCIDENT SITE. (-23) AIRCRAFT VEERED LEFT UPON LANDING DEPARTING THE RUNWAY. THE PROP, NOSE WHEEL AND FIREWALL SUSTAINED DAMAGE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CHI96LA086](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CHI96LA086), Jan 31, 1996: Piper PA-32-301 (N800TC), Marion, IN, substantial damage. Probable cause: the pilot's failure to maintain directional control during landing.

## Other reports on N800TC (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19830411017559I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19830411017559I), Apr 11, 1983: Piper PA32301 (N800TC), Marshalltown, IA, Minor damage. A large bird struck the windshield and temperature probe. Broke off probe and loosened windshield.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
