## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: THE PILOT: MR. JACK NYCE STATED THAT ON JANUARY 31, 1996, AT 1743 PST, BEECHCRAFT AIRCRAFT, REGISTRATION NUMBER N2102L, TOUCHED DOWN AT PALO ALTO AIRPORT, BY THE RUNWAY VASI LIGHTS. UPON INITIAL APPLICATION OF THE BRAKES THE PILOT DISCOVERED THAT THE LEFT BRAKE WAS INOPERATIVE, THE PILOT IMMEDIATELY APPLIED RIGHT BRAKE PEDAL PRESSURE PLUS FULL LEFT RUDDER TO MAINTAIN THE AIRCRAFT ON THE CENTERLINE OF THE RUNWAY. HOWEVER, THE AIRCRAFT CONTINUED TO TRAVEL OFF THE END OF THE RUNWAY INTO THE DIRT/MUD. THIS CAUSED THE NOSE LANDING GEAR ASSEMBLY TO SHEAR-OFF PERMITTING BOTH PROPELLERS TO CONTACT THE GROUND. REQUESTED M OR D ON REASON FOR BRAKE FAILURE WHEN CAUSE HAS BEEN DETERMINED. NO PILOT DEVIATION INVOLVED AND NO 8020-11 WAS GENERATED. THIS CONCLUDES THIS INVESTIGATION AND THIS REPORT IS CLOSED.
