## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: THIS NARRATIVE PROVIDED BY TELEPHONE CALL FROM EUGENE REINECKE, PILOT OF N226HA, A SWEARINGEN MERLIN IIB. THE AIRCRAFT WAS INVOLVED IN A ROLLOUT INCIDENT AT MAMMOTH LAKES AIRPORT, MAMMOTH LAKES, CA. ON ROLLOUT, MR. REINECKE COMMANDED FULL REVERSE UNTIL REACHING A SPEED OF ABOUT 60 KTS AND THEN APPLIED FULL BRAKING. THE LEFT BRAKE WAS INEFFECTIVE AND THE AIRCRAFT PULLED TO THE RIGHT. REINECKE THEN REAPPLIED FULL REVERSE AND USED TILLER STEERING TO ATTEMPT BRINGING IT BACK TO CENTERLINE. AS THE AIRCRAFT WAS SLOWING, MR. REINECKE SAW THAT HE WAS GOING TO EXIT THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY AND STRIKE THE THRESHOLD LIGHTS. HE THEN WENT TO IDLE SO AS TO MINIMIZE THE DAMAGE TO THE PROPS AND HE ESTIMATES HE STOPPED 15-20 FEET OFF THE RUNWAY AFTER PASSING THROUGH THE LIGHTS AT A SPEED OF 5 KTS. IN A CONVERSATION WITH A BILL MANNING, AIRPORT MANAGER, AT MAMMOTH LAKES, THIS PERSPECTIVE COINCIDED WITH THAT OF THE OTHER WITNESSES THIS INCIDENT AND INVESTIGATION ARE CLOSED. THIS INCIDENT DID NOT INVOLVE A PILOT DEVIATION REPORT FORM 8020-17.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
