## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: N33129 WAS ON AN IFR FLIGHT PLAN FROM CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA TO MATTOON, ILLINOIS. UPON ARRIVING AT MATTOON THE AIRCRAFT WAS UNABLE TO COMPLETE AN ILS APPROACH BECAUSE THE WEATHER HAD DROPPED BELOW MINIMUMS. N33129 DECLARED AN EMERGENCY DUE TO LOW FUEL AND ATTEMPTED TO FLY TO CHAMPAIGN, ILLINOIS, APPROXIMATELY 30 MILES NORTH OF MATTOON. FOUR MILES SOUTH OF CHAMPAIGN THE ENGINE LOST POWER. THE PILOT REPORTED THAT HE WAS OUT OF FUEL. THE AIRCRAFT GLIDED TO THE AIRPORT PROPERTY, BUT LANDED IN THE GRASS ABOUT 300 FEET SHORT OF THE RUNWAY. THE FLIGHT PLAN STATED THAT THERE WAS FIVE HOURS AND TEN MINUTES OF FUEL ONBOARD.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
