## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: THE PILOT OF N29252 WAS CLEARED TO RW 16 AND TO HOLD IN POSITION. THE PILOT READ BACK THE CLEARANCE. WHILE N29282 WAS HOLDING IN POSITION ON RW 16 THE TOWER CONTROLLER STATED "CHEROKEE N29282 CLEARED TO THE NEIL ARMSTRONG AIRPORT VIA RADAR VECTORS, FINDLEY, DIRECT, MAINTAIN 4000". THE PILOT READ BACK THE CLEARANCE AND THEN COMMENCED TO TAKEOFF. WHEN N29282 WAS AIRBORNE THE TOWER CONTROLLER ASKED THE PILOT OF N29282 IF HE WAS CLEARED FOR TAKEOFF. THE PILOT RESPONDED "YES, SIR, I BELIEVE I WAS." THE TOWER CONTROLLER STATED, "I DON'T THINK YOU WERE." FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH ATC CLEARANCE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
