## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: WHILE ENROUTE FROM SANTA ROSA, NM, TO SECORRO, NM, PILOT MADE A PRECAUTIONARY LANDING BECAUSE HE WAS LOSING DAYLIGHT. NOTE: AIRCRAFT WAS NOT EQUIPPED FOR NIGHT FLIGHT. AIRCRAFT LANDED HEADING NORTH NE ON A ROUGH DIRT ROAD LOCATED 17 MILES SOUTH SW OF CORONA, NM. THE DIRT ROAD WAS A PRIVATE ACCESS ROAD APPROXIMATELY ONE-HALF MILE WEST OF STATE ROAD 54 AND RUNNING PARALLEL TO THE STATE ROAD AT MILE MARKER 154 (333DEGREES). THE LAND IS OWNED BY LERRY BOND WHO INDICATED THAT THERE WAS NO PROPERTY DAMAGE. INVESTIGATION INDICATES THAT THE AIRCRAFT WANDERED 35 TO 40 MILES SOUTH OF ITS INTENDED COURSE AND THE PILOT HAD BECOME DISORIENTED. THE PILOT INDICATED THAT HE HAD LOST GROUND REFERENCE WITH THE CHART IN USE. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
