## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: ON MARCH 10, 1996, AT APPROXIMATELY 1047 MST, BEECH J35, N8307D, PILOTED BY MARK J. DESSY, WAS ABOUT TO TOUCH DOWN ON RUNWAY 34 AT LAUGHLIN-BULLHEAD INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (IFP), BULLHEAD CITY, ARIZONA, AND CAUSED AN AMERICA WEST EXPRESS BEECH 1900D TO ABORT ITS TAKEOFF. THE PILOT OF N8307D HAD BEEN ON A UNICOM FREQUENCY FOR AN AIRPORT THAT IS 10 MILES SOUTH OF IFP AND WAS GIVEN AN ADVISORY BY SOMEONE THAT RUNWAY 36 WAS IN USE. MR. DESSY HAD DEPARTED TORRANCE, CA ON A VFR FLIGHT TO BULLHEAD CITY, AZ. HE HAD AN OLD SECTIONAL CHART, AND WAS NOT AWARE THAT IFR HAD A TOWER. HE LANDED ON RUNWAY 34 WITHOUT AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL CLEARANCE. NO AIRCRAFT DAMAGE OR INJURIES WERE INVOLVED. THIS DOES NOT INVOLVE A NMAC REPORT. THIS INVOLVES A PILOT DEVIATION REPORTED BY AIR TRAFFIC, AND IT WAS REPORTED ON FAA FORM 8020-11. INCIDENT CLOSED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
